Science Community Lead

About the role

This position is focused on building and nurturing a global community of scientists, researchers, and biotech enthusiasts within an innovative decentralized science ecosystem. You will create engaging online spaces where scientific collaboration, discussion, and discovery can thrive, primarily on Discord and other social platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Build, manage, and grow online science communities, primarily on Discord, including channel structure, onboarding flows, bots, and engagement systems.
• Host and facilitate community events such as AMAs, journal clubs, voice discussions, and live online sessions.
• Develop and execute community programming that encourages participation, highlights member research, and fosters collaboration.
• Identify and connect researchers, scientists, and emerging voices to encourage knowledge exchange.
• Moderate discussions to maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and high‑quality community environment.
• Track engagement metrics and experiment with new formats to improve community health and participation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or a related scientific field.
• Strong familiarity with online communities, particularly Discord, Reddit, and/or X (Twitter), with prior moderation experience preferred.
• Excellent written communication skills with a warm, accessible, and engaging tone.
• Comfort hosting live events, voice chats, and interactive community sessions.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Proactive mindset with a willingness to experiment, iterate, and improve community engagement strategies.
• Genuine interest in biotechnology, life sciences, and scientific research communities.
