Stress Engineer – F1 Structural Analysis

About the role

The Visa Cash App RB F1 Team, one of the two Red Bull-owned F1 teams, is looking for an experienced Stress Engineer based in Faenza. The engineer ensures that structural car components meet the design and performance specifications defined by Technical Management, covering structural analysis, design support, validation and service-life follow-up, and contributes to improving stress methodologies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform stress analyses (FEA and hand calculations) from preliminary design through to final part release, with clear, traceable stress reports
• Oversee and coordinate other Stress Analysts and support the Team Leader in damage and defect investigations
• Collaborate with other departments to gather input data across the project lifecycle
• Monitor in-service behaviour of car parts, including trackside usage and structural testing, and maintain test procedures with the R&D Testing Department
• Support the preparation of documentation for track support and design loads, and give occasional trackside support during race weekends or testing
• Work with the Stress Methodology group to improve calculation and sizing methods, and keep close contact with internal and external stakeholders

Required profile

• Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering master's degree
• Extensive stress analysis experience at a senior level
• Previous engineering experience in F1
• Strong knowledge of carbon and metal structures, FEA theory and current manufacturing processes (CNC and DMLS)
• Availability to travel up to one week per month

Required skills

• FEA pre-processing: Altair HyperMesh/Optistruct and Abaqus
• Siemens NX is a plus
• Material science and manufacturing processes
