Subsea Mechanical & Structural Engineer

About the role

Saipem is looking for a Subsea Mechanical and Structural Engineer to join its Sonsub office in Milan. You will work under the Mechanical and Special Tool Office Manager, contributing to the design and delivery of offshore equipment for the energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Design structural and machine elements, selecting transmission gears, electromechanical components and commercial parts while considering corrosion, machining, welding and tolerance requirements.
• Optimize designs for production cost savings, component standardisation and ease of integration, testing and maintenance.
• Manage and coordinate external engineering resources for 2D/3D design assistance.
• Oversee subcontractors responsible for fabrication and testing of designed equipment.
• Maintain and organise 3D models and related documentation in Autodesk Vault.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a mechanical design engineer in oil & gas or automation.
• Fluent in Italian and English.
• Ability to travel within Italy or abroad as project needs dictate.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Autodesk Vault and Inventor.
• Experience using Ansys for finite element analysis.
• Strong knowledge of Office suite applications.
• Solid understanding of mechanical design principles for subsea applications.
