Technical Design Engineer – Joinery (Relocation to Dubai)

About the role

The Technical Design Engineer – Joinery will lead the technical and engineering aspects of joinery manufacturing projects, ensuring that designs, shop drawings and production processes meet client specifications, project timelines and quality standards. This position serves as the primary technical liaison between design, production and project teams, and requires relocation to Dubai.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve technical drawings, shop drawings and design submittals for joinery production.
• Coordinate with design, engineering and production teams to ensure feasibility and manufacturability.
• Provide technical guidance and resolve design or production discrepancies.
• Liaise with clients, consultants and main contractors on submittals, RFIs and approvals.
• Develop and monitor material specifications, finishes and hardware selection.
• Support estimation and tendering teams with technical input.
• Conduct technical reviews of BOQs, specifications and contract documents.
• Monitor production quality against approved drawings and resolve technical issues.
• Mentor junior technical/design staff.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards and company SOPs.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for management.
• Optimize production methods and support CNC programming and machinery utilization.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in joinery, millwork or interior fit‑out manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a technical role.
• Strong knowledge of joinery materials, manufacturing processes and high‑end finishing techniques, especially Italian craftsmanship and leather upholstery.
• Hands‑on experience with Italian furniture/joinery standards preferred.
• Experience handling technical submittals for fit‑out projects in the UAE/GCC region is a plus.
