About the role

The Department of Physics at the University of Rome Tor Vergata invites expressions of interest for a tenure‑track researcher or associate professor position in experimental superconductivity. The role is funded through the Italian Ministry of Research Direct Call, which targets scholars employed abroad for at least three years.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to teaching and research programmes within the department.
  • Lead projects on superconducting devices and low‑temperature physics.
  • Develop and operate clean‑room processes, including mask design, fabrication, and thin‑film deposition.
  • Design, fabricate and test superconducting detectors and Josephson junctions.
  • Manage cryogenic systems and SQUID readout instrumentation.
  • Secure national and international research funding.
  • Participate in departmental governance and strategic planning.

Required profile

  • Established researcher with a proven record in experimental superconductivity.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a university or research centre abroad.
  • Strong publication record and ability to lead scientific teams.
  • Capacity to collaborate across disciplines and contribute to departmental strategy.
