Turbine Control Specialist

About the role

ABB is looking for a Turbine Control Specialist in Genoa, reporting to the Engineering Manager. The role covers planning and executing Local Business Line projects for steam and gas turbine control, on Turbine Control System projects of moderate size or parts of major ones, cost-effectively and in line with contract specifications, quality standards and safety. The work model is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the engineering discipline across several turbine projects and provide technical support for testing, installation and commissioning.
• Design and run experiments, analyse and interpret data, and prepare complete project documents.
• Improve the effectiveness of the work plan with other functions.
• Work with Supply Chain so that technical requirements are communicated and agreed with suppliers, and evaluate supplier proposals and accepted equipment or services.
• Develop, select and apply standard techniques, procedures and tools, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and contracts.
• Help prepare proposals and presentations for engineering projects, and create work plans and cost estimates.
• Review and approve scope, budget and schedule, ensuring quality delivery on time and within target cost.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering, with at least 3 years of experience in steam/gas turbine control applications or industrial automation.
• Technical experience with automation and electrical products in oil & gas and/or power generation; experience with turbine OEM projects is a plus.
• Strong background in automation, including DCS, instrumentation and control (I&C) and protection systems; knowledge of ABB control systems is a plus.
• Availability to take part in commissioning activities in Italy and abroad when required.
• Fluent English and Italian.

Required skills

• General understanding of network engineering and IT/IS, including PC handling, Windows applications, backups and cybersecurity.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering software such as CAD/AutoCAD, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe.
