Associate or Senior Editor – Nature Mechanical Engineering

About the role

Springer Nature is launching Nature Mechanical Engineering, a flagship journal dedicated to high‑impact research in mechanical engineering. We are looking for a motivated Associate or Senior Editor to lead the editorial team, shape the journal’s content strategy and ensure the publication of top‑quality papers.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full editorial workflow from manuscript submission to publication.
• Identify and commission cutting‑edge research articles, reviews and commentaries.
• Coordinate peer‑review processes, select reviewers and make editorial decisions.
• Collaborate with authors, reviewers and internal teams to maintain high scientific standards.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase the journal’s visibility and impact.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in scientific publishing or editorial work.
• Strong understanding of interdisciplinary mechanical engineering topics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
