Communication Assistant

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Communication Assistant to support its Media and Communication Unit (MCU) in Italy. Working under the Senior Public Information Associate, the assistant will help implement public information activities that align with IOM’s communication guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the MCU in planning and executing public information activities.
• Support social media plans, track performance indicators, and maintain IOM Italy’s Instagram and Facebook channels.
• Help draft and update editorial plans based on communication priorities.
• Compile data on communication activities, prepare performance reports, and coordinate administrative aspects of information campaigns.
• Prepare and disseminate public information materials such as TV/radio spots and announcements.
• Support the production of printed and digital materials (posters, reports, flyers, brochures) following IOM rules.
• Draft or translate content (press releases, announcements) in English and Italian for MCU use.
• Facilitate internal communication across IOM units in Italy and with other IOM offices.
• Assist in organizing public information events in English and Italian to raise project visibility.

Required profile

• Strong written communication skills in both English and Italian.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior staff and thematic experts.
• Attention to detail for data compilation, reporting, and material preparation.
• Interest in migration issues and public information outreach.

Required skills

• Proficiency with social media platforms, specifically Instagram and Facebook.
