Design Engineer – Additive Manufacturing Components

About the role

Avio Aero, a GE Aerospace company, is looking for a Design Engineer to join its Military Design Engineering team. You will own the end‑to‑end design of additively manufactured components, guiding parts from concept through certification to service entry.

Key responsibilities

• Capture system‑level requirements and translate them into detailed component definitions.
• Define validation and verification plans to demonstrate compliance with certification standards.
• Develop component and module designs that meet cost, performance, and life‑cycle objectives.
• Apply best practices for Direct Metal Laser Melting (DMLM) and Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) processes.
• Produce and release engineering deliverables such as drawings, presentations, and technical reports.
• Maintain configuration discipline and clear technical communication.
• Participate in design reviews, program milestones, and risk/verification status updates.
• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, NDT, Program teams, and suppliers.
• Support producibility, resolve issues, and drive cost‑out and product‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Technical diploma in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience designing additive‑manufactured components, preferably using DMLM/DMLS.
• Proficiency with CAD tools, especially Unigraphics NX.
• Solid fundamentals in mechanical design (statics, strength of materials, dynamics).
• Fluent written and spoken English and Italian.
• Work visa eligibility according to local regulations.
