Design Engineer (Frontend & UI/UX)

About the role

As a Design Engineer at Ashby you will blend high‑level product design with hands‑on front‑end development. You will work on a product used by over 100,000 weekly active users and help shape the experience for major customers such as Notion, Linear, Shopify, and Snowflake.

Key responsibilities

• Redesign the mobile web application by gathering user feedback, creating wireframes, and implementing the new design using the in‑house design system.
• Build flexible, composable components that enable other engineers to create consistent, beautiful UI across the platform.
• Consult with product engineers on bespoke design challenges, improving information hierarchy and scannability for candidate assessments.
• Expand and enhance Ashby’s internal design system, ensuring it supports both design and technical requirements.
• Collaborate closely with the engineering leadership team to align design decisions with data model and technical constraints.

Required profile

• Strong passion for both visual design and front‑end implementation.
• Ability to move fluidly between wireframing, prototyping, and production‑ready code.
• Comfort working on a product at scale and iterating quickly based on real user feedback.
• Self‑motivated, collaborative mindset, and eager to influence both design and engineering practices.
