Design Manager – Data Centre Projects

About the role

Data4 is looking for a Design Manager to lead the end‑to‑end design of data centre and campus infrastructure projects in Italy. The role combines technical authority across multiple disciplines with client interaction and permitting responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead high‑level, detailed and master‑planning design for data centre campuses.
• Act as technical authority for CSA, MEP, controls, networks and power substation design.
• Interface with clients during sales and delivery phases and manage permitting processes with local authorities.
• Ensure design meets performance targets such as max IT capacity, SLA compliance, PUE and WUE.
• Define equipment requirements, optimise cost metrics and drive modular/prefabricated approaches.

Required profile

• Technical design engineering background (Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, ICT or Civil/Structural).
• 3‑5 years of data‑centre experience and proven leadership of multi‑discipline design scopes.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and decision‑making skills.
• Commitment to health & safety, environmental and information‑security policies.

Required skills

• CSA and MEP design integration.
• Controls, networks and power substation design.
• Data‑centre engineering and performance optimisation (PUE, WUE).
• Commissioning concepts and protocol definition.
• Equipment specification, vendor selection and validation.
