Global Director, EHS

About the role

The Global Director, EHS leads Gowan’s worldwide Environmental, Health & Safety strategy. Reporting to the Global Head of Operations and interacting directly with the Board and executive leadership, this board‑visible role drives a safety‑first culture, ensures regulatory compliance, and embeds EHS as a core business value across all sites.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain a formal global EHS governance model, including policies, standards, escalation paths and decision rights.
• Champion a behavior‑based safety culture, holding leaders accountable for EHS outcomes and encouraging open reporting of safety concerns.
• Design and lead a global audit and assessment program, set and monitor KPIs such as TRIR, near‑misses, and corrective‑action closure.
• Own the design, deployment and governance of the global EHS management system and digital tools (e.g., ProSapien), standardising incident reporting, risk assessments, permit‑to‑work and CAPA processes.
• Ensure worldwide regulatory compliance and integrate EHS risks into enterprise risk management and Board reporting.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in global EHS management, preferably within a multi‑site industrial organization.
• Demonstrated ability to influence Board members and senior executives on safety and compliance matters.
• Strong track record of driving cultural transformation and delivering measurable safety performance improvements.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with experience presenting complex data to diverse stakeholders.
