Job description

About the role

Vertiv is looking for an Industrial Engineering & Operational Excellence Specialist to join its EMEA operations team in Tognana, Italy. The role focuses on driving measurable improvements, capacity gains and ramp‑up activities through shop‑floor Kaizen events and Six Sigma problem solving.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead shop‑floor Kaizen events across EMEA sites: identify Gemba opportunities, define scope, run workshops, implement countermeasures and ensure sustainment.
  • Conduct industrial engineering analyses such as time studies, work measurement, line balancing, takt and capacity calculations, labour optimisation, and layout/material‑flow improvements.
  • Support ramp‑up and stabilisation of new and existing assembly, sub‑assembly and test lines through readiness checks, bottleneck removal, standard‑work creation, training and performance stabilisation.
  • Translate operational leadership priorities (cost‑out, capacity increase, throughput, lead‑time, quality) into improvement charters with clear targets, timelines and owners.
  • Apply Lean tools and Six Sigma/DMAIC methodology to eliminate waste, improve flow and solve problems, establishing controls to prevent recurrence.
  • Own benefits realisation from baseline to validation, quantify gains, document assumptions and lead the savings sign‑off process with Finance.
  • Coach site teams, build local capability and provide clear Kaizen documentation (A3s, before/after, KPI impact, action tracking).

Required profile

  • University degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience in industrial engineering, operational excellence, continuous improvement or lean manufacturing on the shop floor.
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable improvements in capacity, productivity, cost, lead‑time or quality with documented results from baseline to sustainment.
  • Strong ability to work at Gemba, run Kaizen events and influence cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

  • Lean manufacturing toolset (standard work, line balancing, visual management, 5S, waste elimination).
  • Six Sigma / DMAIC methodology and root‑cause analysis.
  • Time‑study and work‑measurement techniques.
  • Data collection and analysis (Pareto, KPI tracking).
  • Layout design and material‑flow optimisation.
  • Capacity and takt time calculations.
  • Labor optimisation and productivity improvement.
