Information Systems Officer

About the role

The Information Systems Officer will work within the Enabling and Outreach Service of the Office for Supply Chain Management, supporting the United Nations Secretariat’s global supply chain systems. Reporting to the Chief or designated official, the role focuses on the design, implementation, sustainment and continuous improvement of Umoja and related ERP solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage projects that include feasibility studies, systems analysis, design, development and implementation of supply chain information systems.
• Develop detailed functional specifications, user documentation and training materials for major supply chain applications.
• Provide Tier 2b technical support and business advice on Umoja processes, configuring changes and enhancements.
• Maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot existing systems, ensuring data security and appropriate access controls.
• Organise unit and integrated testing, support user acceptance testing and oversee change‑management and knowledge‑transfer activities.
• Research emerging technologies, produce analytical reports and facilitate communication between functional groups and client entities.

Required profile

• Professionalism: strong knowledge of information technology, systems analysis, database design and programming, with proficiency in structured/object‑oriented design and relational systems.
• Planning & Organising: ability to set clear goals, prioritize tasks, manage risks and allocate resources efficiently.
• Client Orientation: focus on understanding client needs, building trustful partnerships and delivering solutions on schedule.
