Internship in Global Process & Bakery Technology Development

About the role

The internship joins the Global Process & Technology Development Bakery team at Barilla’s Rubbiano Bakery Plant. You will work on three rusk production lines, supporting the implementation of advanced sensor‑based measurement systems and testing alternative coating materials for baking trays.

Key responsibilities

• Support installation, commissioning, calibration and validation of new inline sensors and measurement systems.
• Collect, organize and preprocess digital and manual process and product data.
• Apply basic statistical analysis to assess reliability of monitoring technologies.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, R&D and Supply Chain teams, interacting directly with line operators.
• Prepare, execute and document industrial trials for alternative tray coatings.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Food Science & Technology, Chemistry, Biotechnology or related STEM field.
• Strong interest in manufacturing processes, food technologies and digitalisation.
• Fluent in Italian and good command of English.
• Proactive, analytical, detail‑oriented and able to work independently.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Willingness to develop data analysis and applied statistics skills.
• Basic understanding of sensor technologies and calibration.
