Junior Software Developer – Bologna

About the role

Smartcustoms is looking for a Junior Software Developer to join its Bologna office. The role is full‑time and on‑site, focusing on building and maintaining software tools that support customs and international trade operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance back‑end tools used in customs and foreign‑trade processes.
• Maintain and improve existing codebase to ensure performance, quality and responsiveness.
• Manage data crawlers for regulatory monitoring and data acquisition.
• Support data lifecycle management, including collection, storage, processing and archival.
• Contribute to the scalability and robustness of product architecture.
• Perform debugging, testing and code reviews.
• Collaborate with consultants, compliance experts and IT teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures and core computer‑science concepts.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Required skills

• Back‑end web development.
