Junior Web Developer

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Junior Web Developer to join its fully remote web team. You will work on high‑fidelity websites and web applications, collaborating with designers, UX specialists and back‑end engineers to deliver modern, accessible, and performant user experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain responsive web pages and applications using HTML, CSS (SCSS) and JavaScript (React, TypeScript).
• Update existing projects, add new content, and implement feature requests.
• Ensure code follows Canonical’s style guidelines, SEO best practices, and accessibility standards.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.
• Collaborate with UX designers and server‑side developers to translate designs into functional interfaces.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent education in a related field.
• Based in an EMEA timezone.
• Passion for web standards, open source, and continuous learning.
• Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.

Required skills

• HTML, CSS, SCSS

• Git or other version‑control systems
• Responsive UI development for multiple devices and browsers
• SEO best practices and web accessibility considerations
• Understanding of web performance optimization
• Familiarity with Linux desktop technologies
