Lawyer – Institutional & EU Law (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a Lawyer specialised in Institutional and European Union law to join its Legal Corporate Department in Luxembourg. The role is based on‑site and involves representing the Bank in litigation before the Court of Justice of the EU and providing expert legal advice on a range of EU‑related matters.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the EIB as an agent in litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
• Prepare legal notes, opinions and research studies on complex institutional, employment and anti‑fraud issues.
• Advise internal units on the EIB’s Transparency Policy, Anti‑Fraud Policy, Complaints Mechanism and staff‑related matters.
• Participate in internal and external working groups, panels and task forces.
• Liaise with external counsel, supervise their work and maintain contacts with EU institutions and other IFIs.

Required profile

• University degree in law (minimum Bachelor level, preferably Master’s).
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within EU institutions, international law firms or EU litigation.
• Strong knowledge of EU law; bar qualification or Master’s in EU law is a strong asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard office computer tools and familiarity with legal databases.
