Lead AI Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

Salesforce is hiring a Lead AI Forward Deployed Engineer in Milan. Forward Deployed Engineers are the technical builders who design, build and deploy complex agentic AI solutions directly inside enterprise customer environments. As a lead, you will partner with a Deployment Strategist to own outcomes end-to-end, from architecture decisions to production, mentor other engineers and set the engineering standards for deploying agentic AI at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Own end-to-end build and deployment of agentic AI solutions for strategic customers, from architecture decisions through production handoff.
• Design and ship agentic systems on the Agentforce platform: agent logic, tool calls, multi-agent orchestration, deterministic guardrails and integration patterns.
• Own the data lifecycle: model design, processing pipelines and data readiness across Salesforce Data 360, Snowflake, Databricks and customer platforms.
• Resolve technical blockers such as data integration failures, model deployment issues, orchestration breakdowns and performance regressions.
• Build and maintain agent performance dashboards and customer KPI reporting.
• Develop proofs-of-concept and MVPs, codify reusable patterns and frameworks, and mentor engineers through code reviews and pair sessions.
• Share field insights with Product and Engineering and provide technical depth on critical deployments.

Required profile

• 6+ years of software engineering or technical delivery experience with end-to-end ownership of scalable production systems in enterprise AI, cloud or SaaS environments.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Expertise in at least one of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java or Apex, and familiarity with the others.
• Experience integrating LLMs into production, using frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, and applying prompt engineering and responsible AI practices.
• Deep experience in data modeling, processing and analytics, and deep Salesforce platform expertise (Agentforce, Apex, LWC, Flows, Salesforce APIs).
• Ability to travel to customer sites as needed; business-level Italian and English.
• Nice to have: Salesforce certifications, DevOps/CI-CD or observability familiarity, experience architecting enterprise AI solutions for Global 500 customers, and open-source contributions or technical writing.
