Learning & Development Manager – Hotel

About the role

The Learning & Development Manager will lead the hotel’s learning strategy, from pre‑opening onboarding through ongoing training, talent management and quality assurance. Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, this role ensures that all colleagues embody Mandarin Oriental’s culture, standards and service excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the pre‑opening Learning & Development strategy aligned with brand standards.
• Lead onboarding, orientation and large‑scale induction programmes for seasonal and permanent staff.
• Design, deliver and maintain the hotel’s Learning & Development standards, including orientation, service excellence, departmental, classroom, supervisory, digital and off‑job training.
• Prepare and execute the annual L&D plan, training calendar and budget, and produce regular performance reports.
• Support the performance management cycle, talent review, succession planning and career development initiatives.
• Facilitate leadership development workshops, retreats and team‑building activities.
• Drive quality assurance by analysing guest feedback, LQA inspections and mystery‑shop results, translating findings into development actions.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, sustainability and mandatory training requirements.
• Participate in corporate L&D initiatives, cross‑property projects and train‑the‑trainer programmes.
