Legal Counsel – Luxury Train & Hotel Group

About the role

Belmond is looking for a Legal Counsel with 2-3 years of post-qualification experience to join its in-house Legal & Corporate Integrity department in Milan. The role reports to the Divisional Director of Legal, Southern Europe and supports the legal strategy of the group's luxury train and hotel businesses in Southern Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts such as supplier agreements, client contracts, partnership and service agreements, in line with applicable laws and internal policies.
• Provide practical legal advice and support to operations, finance, sales, marketing and HR on day-to-day matters, helping to mitigate risk.
• Coordinate litigation strategy with external law firms and guide internal handling of legal disputes.
• Help develop, implement and monitor compliance programmes, including Italian Legislative Decree 231/2001, GDPR, anti-bribery and supplier on-boarding and diligence.
• Report regularly on legal tasks and ongoing matters to line managers and stakeholders.
• Carry out legal research and analysis on topics relevant to hospitality and the luxury sector.

Required profile

• Admitted to practice Italian law.
• 2-3 years of post-qualification experience in a reputable law firm or in-house department, preferably in an international setting; prior in-house experience preferred.
• Essential experience in commercial contract law; knowledge of Decree 231/2001 is highly desirable.
• Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory; hospitality, travel or luxury sector experience is an advantage.
