Maintenance Technician – Facilities & Grounds (DTAE)

About the role

The State of Georgia, through Georgia Northwestern Technical College, seeks a full‑time Maintenance Technician to support the Floyd County Campus and other locations as needed. The role involves maintaining building systems, grounds, and equipment while ensuring a safe and functional environment for staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Perform repairs on buildings, fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
• Execute preventative maintenance on mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Maintain grounds, including landscaping, herbicide/pesticide application, and parking lot upkeep.
• Assist with renovation projects such as drywall repair and painting.
• Document work performed in required logs and records.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests during evenings or weekends.
• Support fixture, furniture, and office relocations.

Required profile

• Ability to lift, push, or pull at least 50 lb.
• Willingness to work on‑site 40 hours per week with occasional emergency calls.
• Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
