Mechanical Engineer – New Product Development

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer (FACM) is responsible for designing components, sub‑assemblies and new product concepts throughout the New Product Development (NPD) process, from initial specification through feasibility studies, robust design and start‑of‑production.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to analyse specifications and conduct feasibility studies.
• Create and maintain component and sub‑assembly specifications, CAD models (3D/2D) and product layouts.
• Support prototype preparation, testing and DFMEA activities.
• Prepare and maintain preliminary technical Bill of Materials (BOM) and evaluate product costs.
• Work with moulding, R&D, purchasing, quality and production departments during engineering build and pre‑production.
• Organise and participate in technical design reviews and NPD meetings.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical component and system design.
• Creative, innovative problem‑solver with strong time‑management skills.
• Team player, self‑motivated and accountable.
• Fluent in English with ability to produce clear technical documentation.
• Willingness to travel as project needs dictate.

Required skills

• Siemens NX (3D design tool).
• CAD design (3D and 2D).
• Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA).
• Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation and management.
• Mass‑production product development knowledge.
• Laboratory equipment testing and results evaluation.
