Mechanical Engineering Intern – Manufacturing

About the role

The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support the Manufacturing Engineering Department at Applied Materials' European Repair Center in Fagare, Italy. This six‑month internship offers hands‑on experience in a high‑tech manufacturing environment, working closely with engineers and cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support Manufacturing Engineers improving daily production processes.
• Assist in developing and updating manufacturing procedures and work instructions.
• Participate in process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
• Collect and analyze manufacturing data to support operational decisions.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
• Assist in new product introduction and process validation activities.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams.
• Support evaluation of tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment.
• Maintain engineering documentation and manufacturing records.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Fluent in English and Italian, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or similar).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Good analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
