Postdoctoral Researcher in Multimodal AI for Biomedical Imaging

About the role

The Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) invites applications for a 12‑month postdoctoral position focused on multimodal and generative artificial intelligence for biomedical imaging and genetics. You will join the Artificial Intelligence for Good (AIGO) research unit, collaborating with an international, interdisciplinary team to advance AI methods that address real‑world healthcare challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced machine‑learning and deep‑learning models for multimodal biomedical data.
• Investigate generative and foundation models to learn robust image‑derived representations.
• Address challenges such as limited supervision, domain shift, data imbalance, zero/few‑shot learning, and continual learning.
• Apply research outcomes to medical imaging and heterogeneous genetic datasets.
• Publish findings in high‑impact journals and present at conferences.
• Collaborate with partner universities and research centers in Italy and across Europe.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and multimodal data analysis.
• Experience with generative models and representation learning.
• Demonstrated ability to work in interdisciplinary, multicultural research teams.
• Record of scientific publications in relevant areas.
