Project Assistant (Outreach) – Part‑Time – Sicily

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a part‑time Project Assistant to support the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programme in the Sicily region. Working under the Director of the Coordination Office for the Mediterranean and the Project Coordinator, you will help deliver outreach, counselling and administrative services to migrants interested in voluntary return.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain contacts with local stakeholders such as municipalities, NGOs, diaspora groups and other entities involved in migration management.
• Provide AVRR information sessions and tailored counselling to Third Country Nationals considering return.
• Submit AVRR applications through the Ministry of Interior’s online system and manage related documentation.
• Disseminate AVRR informational material in coordination with the Project Coordinator.
• Assist migrants in completing applications and coordinate with IOM’s AVRR team to secure travel documents.
• Maintain accurate case files and ensure proper filing of all returnee records.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of Italian is an advantage.
• Experience working with migrants, NGOs or public administration is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
