Project Engineer (CAPEX)

About the role

British American Tobacco Italy is seeking a Project Engineer to lead capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects at its Trieste factory. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering engineering projects that support business continuity, capacity growth, and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and execute CAPEX projects from concept through commissioning and hand‑over.
• Manage the full project lifecycle, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, resource planning, execution, and close‑out.
• Ensure projects meet approved scope, budget, timeline, and comply with internal standards, Italian legislation, GMP, EHS, and quality requirements.
• Develop and control CAPEX budgets in collaboration with Finance.
• Lead contractors, suppliers, and engineering service providers.
• Review and approve technical documentation such as specifications, URS, design documents, and commissioning plans.
• Identify and mitigate project risks across technical, financial, schedule, and compliance dimensions.
• Collaborate with internal and regional stakeholders to align objectives and share best practices.

Required profile

• Strong engineering background in industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Solid technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical process equipment at project level.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and P&IDs.
• Proven experience in CAPEX project management, including controls, commissioning, and qualification (advantage).
