PYP Teacher – Primary School (1-year Fixed-Term)

About the role

The International School of Como is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Primary Years Programme (PYP) Teacher to join its Primary School on a one‑year fixed‑term contract covering maternity leave, starting August 2026. The successful candidate will deliver inquiry‑based learning experiences aligned with the IB PYP framework, supporting students’ academic, social and emotional development in a collaborative, student‑centred environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high‑quality, inquiry‑based lessons following the IB PYP framework.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
• Support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.
• Use assessment data to monitor progress and inform planning.
• Contribute to collaborative planning and transdisciplinary units of inquiry.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
• Maintain strong communication with parents and colleagues.
• Participate in school events, trips, and community initiatives.
• Uphold safeguarding and child‑protection procedures at all times.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching in a Primary or Early Years setting.
• Strong understanding of inquiry‑based learning.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Collaborative and reflective teaching approach.
• Legal right to live and work in Italy (EU passport or valid work permit).

Required skills

• Knowledge of the IB Primary Years Programme.
• Familiarity with formative assessment practices.
