R&D Manager – Sustainable Materials

About the role

Krillmat is seeking a motivated Research and Development Manager to lead its R&D activities focused on bio‑based, recycled and sustainable material solutions. The role will coordinate projects, develop formulations and support the technical development of new products while collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate R&D projects on bio‑based, recycled and sustainable materials.
• Develop and optimise material formulations, compounding processes and product applications.
• Evaluate new raw materials, additives, technologies and processing methods.
• Manage laboratory testing, prototyping, validation and technical characterisation activities.
• Define technical specifications, testing protocols and performance requirements.
• Support polymer processing method development and application‑specific solutions.
• Collaborate with Operations, Marketing and Sales to align technical development with production and market needs.
• Maintain relationships with universities, research centres, suppliers and technical partners.
• Coordinate material certification activities for food contact, cosmetics, compostability and recyclability.
• Monitor innovation trends, regulatory developments and market needs.
• Document research activities, test results and technical reports.
• Contribute to intellectual‑property generation and patent analysis.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or related field.
• Proven R&D experience in polymers, biopolymers, composites, compounding or sustainable materials.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple technical projects with clear priorities and timelines.
