R&D Testing & Lab Specialist - Low-Voltage Circuit Breakers

About the role

ABB is looking for an R&D Testing & Lab Specialist in Bergamo to join the team responsible for electrical testing of low-voltage circuit breakers and switchboards, covering both research and development and certification. The role sits within the ABB Electrification Business, Smart Power division, and works on a two-shift daily schedule in an onsite setting.

Key responsibilities

• Define test sequences, methods, procedures, equipment and instrumentation in line with applicable standards, prepare the test setup and connect the device under test to the test plant.
• Configure transformers and variable loads to reach the required test values, then carry out the electrical tests in a dedicated team.
• Analyse test results against the applicable standards to check product compliance.
• Produce and develop test reports for tested equipment and issue them.
• Propose improvements to existing test techniques, especially for test and measurement equipment.
• Assist and support customers during testing activities.

Required profile

• High school diploma in electrotechnics or a three-year bachelor's degree in an electrical field.
• Strong electrotechnical knowledge, manual skills, analytical ability and result interpretation.
• Passion for precision, teamwork, learning and problem solving.
• Fluent communication in Italian and English.
• Availability to work rotating shifts.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Ability to quickly adapt to proprietary software for recording test results.
