Senior Backend Developer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join a globally distributed engineering team focused on advanced digital finance and blockchain-powered technologies. You will help build and maintain high‑performance, scalable backend systems that power financial services used worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs for a high‑throughput financial platform.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.
• Improve and optimise existing Node.js services for reliability, scalability and performance.
• Create new backend integrations using RPC calls within a micro‑service architecture.
• Write and optimise complex queries for relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Drive platform scalability initiatives to ensure real‑time responsiveness under growing demand.
• Apply security best practices to protect infrastructure, transactions and user data.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
• Support the evolution of messaging systems, caching layers and job‑queue architectures.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience with JavaScript and Node.js backend development.
• Strong understanding of micro‑services architecture and distributed systems design.
• Proven experience building and maintaining large‑scale platforms.
• Solid experience with MySQL and MongoDB databases.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies, frameworks and engineering practices.
• Deep knowledge of backend security concepts and secure API development.
• Experience with high‑availability, scalability optimisation and real‑time systems.
