Senior Backend Engineer - Java & Spring Boot

About the role

Deda, a technology group in Italy acting as a Business & Technology Accelerator, is building a modern AI-enabled SaaS data platform that turns complex data into actionable insights. As a Senior Backend Engineer in the Product Engineering team, you will design and implement the backend services of a multi-tenant SaaS platform, working with Product Managers, Frontend Engineers, DevOps, Data Engineers and Data Scientists.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain secure, scalable REST APIs and backend services using Java and Spring Boot
• Implement business logic, validation, persistence layers and error handling
• Build multi-tenant SaaS capabilities with proper tenant isolation and security
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, queries, indexes and migrations
• Develop APIs for data ingestion, analytics, reporting and dashboards
• Integrate backend services with internal systems, data pipelines and AI-driven components
• Implement authentication and authorization using standard security frameworks
• Write unit and integration tests and collaborate on code reviews
• Estimate delivery realistically and recommend practical technical solutions

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot in production
• Excellent knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
• Proven experience writing unit and integration tests
• Ability to work in environments with evolving requirements and ambiguity, with strong problem-solving and communication skills
