Senior Engineer – LNG Trains Start‑up (Milan)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to lead the start‑up and commissioning of LNG train facilities at a new production site in Milan, Italy. The role is contract‑based, full‑time and will involve close collaboration with vendors, production staff and HSE teams to ensure a safe and efficient hand‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the start‑up sequence for LNG train subsystems and participate in critical commissioning activities.
• Review and comment on commissioning completion dossiers and readiness‑for‑start‑up documents.
• Assist in the creation and alignment of start‑up procedures with company standards.
• Define and oversee vendor mobilisation plans during the post‑handover period.
• Lead the start‑up of LNG trains after hand‑over, coordinating with production personnel.
• Coordinate performance testing, analyse final reports and ensure compliance with operational specifications.
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting and engineering modifications.
• Promote HSE best practices, identify hazards and improve safety programs.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Applied Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in start‑up and operation of LNG production plants.
• Proven track record in commissioning large‑scale industrial projects.

Required skills

• LNG plant processes and start‑up operations.
• Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management systems.
• Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) procedures in the oil & gas sector.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
