Senior Research Scientist

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Research Scientist to lead applied research at the intersection of economics, finance and data science. The role combines academic rigor with product‑focused innovation to create quantitative models that power ION’s core banking and analytics platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead research initiatives in economics, finance and data science, ensuring theoretical soundness and practical relevance.
• Design, implement and validate models using advanced econometrics, machine learning, causal inference, forecasting and network analysis.
• Integrate internal micro‑data (transactional, financial, textual, behavioural) with public and alternative data sources such as news, sentiment and macro‑economic indicators.
• Translate research outcomes into models, algorithms, analytical frameworks and datasets for integration into ION’s product suite.
• Collaborate with engineering, product and analytics teams to deploy models and support model governance, regulatory compliance and documentation.
• Contribute to white papers, methodological notes and present findings at academic and industry conferences.

Required profile

• PhD or Master’s degree (with significant research or industry experience) in Economics, Finance, Data Science, Statistics or a related quantitative field.
• Strong quantitative and modeling background with experience in applied research for financial products.
• Proven ability to work in a fast‑moving environment where academic rigor meets product development.
• Experience presenting research at international conferences and collaborating with academic partners.
