Senior Software Test Engineer

About the role

ASEM, a Rockwell Automation subsidiary founded in 1979 and active since 2020 in industrial automation, test and measurement, is hiring a Senior Software Test Engineer in Verona, Italy. The role drives the testing strategy and execution for FactoryTalk Optix, a modern visualization platform, and acts as technical reference for testing, including hardware and PLC-based environments. It reports to the Test & Technical Project Manager with a hybrid schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Define and guide the test strategy across functional, integration, system and performance testing
• Act as Test Lead, coordinating testing within the team and across global teams
• Mentor other test engineers and promote best practices
• Represent testing in architectural discussions, design reviews and release planning
• Improve the testing process and manage the test infrastructure, including hardware setups, lab environments and network configurations
• Configure PLCs and industrial devices, and build end-to-end test environments reflecting real industrial scenarios
• Guide the evolution of the test automation framework (Python, Squish) and integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline
• Define quality gates and metrics, and communicate testing status, risks and quality metrics to partners

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
• 7+ years of experience in software testing, including automation
• Experience designing test strategies for complex software products
• Technical leadership / test lead experience
• English skills

Required skills

• Solid Python programming, with familiarity with C++, C# or .NET
• Hands-on experience with PLCs and industrial hardware configuration
• Test environment management, including hardware, networks and virtualization (VMWare)
• CI/CD pipelines and Agile/Scrum and SAFe
• Preferred: HMI and visualization software testing, Squish, distributed systems and performance testing
