Smart Eyewear Product Design Engineer

About the role

The Smart Eyewear Product Design Engineer will join EssilorLuxottica’s Smart Eyewear project from concept through to mass‑production launch. You will lead the mechanical design of complex, aesthetically‑driven smart glasses, creating 3‑D models, validating functionality and ensuring seamless integration with user‑experience and manufacturing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and document complex mechanical solutions as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Ideate, design, build, test and refine prototypes and characterization test rigs.
• Apply state‑of‑the‑art technologies to solve mechanical challenges.
• Drive the product through the full development cycle from idea to final product.
• Collaborate closely with industrial designers, UX specialists, quality and manufacturing groups.
• Travel to engineering builds and vendor sites to support development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in mechanical design or mold design.
• Proven ability to understand product functionality holistically.

Required skills

• Parametric 3D CAD (preferably Creo).
• PDM system experience (preferably Windchill).
• Injection‑molding design knowledge.
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Statistical tolerance analysis and functional dimensioning.
