Trainee or Experienced Lawyer – Litigation & Regulatory

About the role

DLA Piper is seeking a motivated Trainee Lawyer or an experienced Lawyer to join its Litigation team in Milan. The role focuses on advising clients on international financial sanctions, export control, and supporting commercial and civil litigation matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice on EU and OFAC sanctions programmes and export‑control regulations.
• Support leading banks and private corporations with day‑to‑day compliance.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on sanctions and regulatory developments.
• Draft memoranda, client communications, and other legal documents.
• Assist the team in commercial and civil litigation, including pre‑contentious matters.
• Collaborate with senior professionals on complex domestic and cross‑border cases.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to client activities.

Required profile

• Italian qualified lawyer with strong academic results.
• Ideally 1–2 years of post‑qualification experience, though trainees preparing for the Bar are also welcome.
• Previous experience in international financial sanctions and export control.
• Background in commercial law or dispute resolution is a plus.
• Service‑oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines.
• Energetic, entrepreneurial mindset and strong team spirit.

• Analytical skills for assessing legal and compliance risks.
