Utilities Engineer – Greenfield Project (Mantova)

About the role

Join Nestlé Purina’s Greenfield project in Mantova to design, commission and support the utility distribution systems of a new pet‑food manufacturing plant. You will work within a global engineering team to ensure safe, compliant and efficient operation of steam, water, air and energy networks.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate design, construction and commissioning of all utility distribution systems, ensuring compliance with Nestlé standards and local regulations.
• Review P&IDs, layouts, calculations and contractor submissions; resolve technical issues during construction and start‑up.
• Develop and execute commissioning plans, perform flushing and performance testing, and verify system performance against design criteria.
• Support safety, environmental and food‑safety compliance, including permit‑to‑work and fire‑protection requirements.

Required profile

• Engineering university degree (mechanical, electrical or related) with at least 5 years of experience in industrial services engineering, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Fluency in Italian and English.
• Experience with large ammonia‑based refrigeration plants or industrial combustion systems (gas boilers, steam).
• Proven ability to work on complex utility networks and lead multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Steam, condensate recovery, compressed‑air, chilled‑water, hot‑water and process‑water distribution.
• HVAC utility interfaces, natural‑gas distribution, utility metering and monitoring.
• Fire‑protection system design and implementation.
• P&ID creation and review, AHU, chillers, BMS and electrical equipment integration.
• Ammonia plant knowledge, water‑treatment and waste‑heat recovery.
