Junior Energy Trader – Italian Gas & Power Market

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Energy Trader to join our Italian gas and power trading team. You will support daily trading activities, manage logistics, and help develop automated tools to maximise profitability while controlling risk.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily nominations, balancing and logistics management for gas, including storage operations.
• Generate short‑term demand forecasts for the Italian market.
• Execute intra‑day trading in the Italian gas market, buying and selling natural gas to capture price movements.
• Monitor and optimise the gas customer portfolio, keeping risk within established limits.
• Collaborate on regulatory monitoring, ensure compliance and identify market opportunities.
• Support trading strategies with data analysis, back‑testing and innovative tools.
• Design and optimise automated trading algorithms based on gas‑trading insights.
• Lead the algo‑trading project for the Italian power market (XBID), covering strategy design, implementation and supervision.
• Forecast and control market guarantees such as balancing, transport and storage capacity.
• Program and nominate gas storage operations, participate in capacity auctions and identify flexibility opportunities.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of experience in gas trading, logistics or a related energy‑industry role.
• Bachelor’s degree in economics, engineering, finance or a related discipline.
• Fluent in Italian and English, both spoken and written.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work effectively in a team.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
