Senior Project Manager – Energy Projects

About the role

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead medium‑size to large energy projects and portfolios across Italy. You will ensure that all project activities align with corporate policies, contractual obligations, quality standards, health, safety, environmental requirements, financial targets, and schedule commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the project team, define guidelines, allocate tasks and motivate internal and external resources.
• Collaborate with Project Controls to create scope, financial, schedule and risk management plans.
• Monitor progress, resource utilization, invoicing, costs, expenses and cash flow.
• Identify, qualify and manage project risks and opportunities.
• Provide regular project reviews and reporting to senior management.
• Capture lessons learned and ensure formal project close‑out and customer acceptance.
• Manage contract and claims processes in line with Hitachi Energy policies.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain to procure services, materials and equipment.
• Act as primary customer contact and escalation point for project issues.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of project management experience in multinational EPC environments, including on‑site construction.
• Experience in the electrical systems sector (T&D or power generation) and familiarity with Italian utilities is a plus.
• Knowledge of various contractual models (e.g., FIDIC, Italian public contracts).
• Fluent in English and Italian.
• Proactive, highly organized and able to coordinate multiple, possibly remote, teams.
• Willingness to travel nationally.
