Consultant – Community Rehabilitation Medicine (Neuro)

About the role

Livewell Southwest is seeking a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine to lead its community neuro‑rehabilitation services in Plymouth. The role combines clinical leadership with the development of specialised services such as intrathecal baclofen therapy and spinal regional rehabilitation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the multi‑professional community neuro‑rehabilitation team.
• Provide clinical input to interventional clinics and the intrathecal baclofen pump service.
• Support and occasionally cover the Level 2a Specialist Rehabilitation Beds & Stroke Rehabilitation Unit.
• Develop and expand community rehabilitation pathways in partnership with acute providers.
• Collaborate with the Physicians Group, trainees and multidisciplinary staff at Mount Gould Hospital.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration and a recognised qualification in Rehabilitation Medicine.
• Experience in community and acute neuro‑rehabilitation settings.
• Demonstrated leadership and service development abilities.
• Commitment to patient‑centred, multidisciplinary care.

Required skills

• Expertise in neuro‑rehabilitation and stroke rehabilitation.
• Knowledge of intrathecal baclofen pump therapy and spinal rehabilitation.
• Ability to lead and mentor a diverse clinical team.
