Digital Design Internship

About the role

NXP is expanding its Catania team focused on high‑impact micro‑controllers for AI at the Edge. The internship offers hands‑on experience in digital IC design, mentorship from senior engineers, and the possibility to collaborate on a university thesis.

Key responsibilities

• Support development of digital sub‑circuits for complex System‑on‑Chip designs, including RTL coding, synthesis, and static timing analysis.
• Collaborate with analog, mixed‑signal, digital and software teams to understand interfaces and integration requirements.
• Assist in verification activities using simulation tools and structured debug methodologies.
• Prepare technical documentation such as design notes and verification summaries.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of Verilog/SystemVerilog for RTL design or verification.
• Interest in digital design concepts like clock domain crossing, low‑power design, and SoC integration.
• Problem‑solving attitude, attention to detail and ability to work in a team‑oriented environment.

Required skills

• Verilog/SystemVerilog
• Python (or Perl/Tcl for scripting)
• Familiarity with digital design flows and EDA tools (synthesis, STA, formal verification)
