Director, Health Economics & Market Access – Surgery (EMEA)

About the role

The Director, HEMA Surgery EMEA will shape and execute the health economics, market access and reimbursement strategy for Johnson & Johnson's Surgery portfolio across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Reporting to regional leadership, the role aligns economic evidence with business priorities to accelerate patient access and drive sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with global, regional and local stakeholders to define and implement the EMEA Surgery HEMA strategy.
• Integrate HEMA considerations into lifecycle planning, investment decisions and regional business plans.
• Design and lead health‑economics research, including real‑world evidence studies, budget‑impact and decision‑analytic models, and care‑pathway analyses.
• Develop and disseminate economic evidence, publications and value narratives for EMEA markets.
• Secure and optimise reimbursement, funding and procedural adoption (DRGs, add‑on payments, procedure codes, coverage decisions).
• Monitor healthcare reform, policy trends and advise leadership on implications.
• Facilitate cross‑market best‑practice sharing and capability development.
• Engage with payers, HTA bodies, policy makers and professional societies.
• Lead managers and senior individual contributors, fostering a purpose‑driven environment.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (PhD, MSc or equivalent) in health economics, public health, outcomes research or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in market access, health‑economics research or reimbursement strategy, preferably within medical devices or pharmaceuticals.
• Proven leadership experience managing cross‑functional teams and external collaborations.
• Strong understanding of EMEA healthcare systems, HTA processes and reimbursement mechanisms.
