Director Project Controlling EMEA

About the role

The Director Project Controlling EMEA leads the regional Project Controlling organisation, providing financial governance, transparency and performance management for the EMEA project portfolio. The role acts as a strategic finance partner to Operations, Business Unit leaders and the Executive Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities

• Own financial oversight of the EMEA portfolio, ensuring delivery against budget, forecast and strategic commitments.
• Lead regional portfolio and performance reviews, articulating drivers of margin, volume, cost, risk, cash and forecast variances.
• Ensure robust project lifecycle governance, including contract review, baseline validation, EAC, percentage‑of‑completion accounting and audit coordination.
• Drive margin protection, profitability improvement and cash‑flow optimisation through deep‑dives, change‑order governance and working‑capital management.
• Build and develop a high‑performing multinational Project Controlling team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
• Standardise controlling methodologies, reporting frameworks and KPIs across EMEA, leveraging SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, Power BI and AI‑enabled analytics.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Management Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in project controlling or commercial finance within a complex, international, project‑driven environment.
• Proven leadership of large, multicultural project portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS 15, US GAAP and percentage‑of‑completion accounting.
• Fluent professional English; additional EMEA languages are a plus.
