Early Years Teacher - Maternity Cover

About the role

St. Louise School, for its Caviglia campus in Milan, is looking for an Early Years Teacher to cover maternity leave, starting from January 2027. The ideal candidate has previous experience with the IB PYP curriculum, but other curricula are welcome. The Caviglia campus serves 2 to 14-year-olds, including a kindergarten for 2 to 5-year-olds, in a setting of more than 500 students from 50 nationalities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, play-based Early Years education for children aged 2-5
• Plan and run learning experiences supporting cognitive, social, emotional and physical development
• Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom that encourages curiosity, independence and wellbeing
• Observe, assess and track children's progress and use evidence to inform planning
• Communicate regularly with parents about children's development and learning
• Work with colleagues to provide consistent Early Years provision
• Support early language, communication, numeracy and social development through play-based activities
• Take part in school events, trips and extracurricular activities
• Apply safeguarding, behaviour and pastoral care policies and keep improving through reflection and professional development

Required profile

• Recognised Early Years teaching qualification
• Experience working with children aged 2-5 in an Early Years or nursery setting
• Understanding of child development and early years pedagogy, including EYFS, Reggio Emilia or equivalent
• Excellent communication with children, parents and colleagues
• Strong classroom management, organisation and planning skills
• Valid EU passport and work permit
