French Patent Language Lead

About the role

The French Patent Language Lead will ensure high‑quality translation, post‑editing and review of complex patent and legal documents between English and French. Working closely with Quality, Program Squads, Talent, vendors and other stakeholders, the role guarantees that deliverables meet client expectations while keeping translation spend within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Translate, post‑edit and review English‑French and French‑English patent/legal materials.
• Plan and execute Language Quality Audits (LQAs) and manage arbitration processes.
• Maintain and update linguistic assets such as French glossaries and translation memories.
• Monitor translation budgets and ensure expenses stay within allocated limits.
• Support Quality team with IRB form reviews and root‑cause analyses for legal translation issues.
• Onboard and guide new French legal suppliers, handling queries and business review meetings.
• Create and update style guides for bilingual patent translation.
• Assess and recommend French legal resources based on quality, on‑time delivery and capacity needs.

Required profile

• Strong background in translation and interpretation, specifically for patent and legal documents.
• Demonstrated experience in quality assurance and budget monitoring within translation projects.
• Deep understanding of legal requirements and ability to work collaboratively across cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills in both English and French.
