About the role
Wood is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its award‑winning Eastern Hemisphere Legal team based in Corsico (Milan). The role provides commercial, timely and cost‑effective legal advice for matters with potential legal or reputational impact, supporting operations in Italy and, when required, across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, CIS and APAC.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver precise legal advice on a wide range of issues, including litigation, contracts (EPC/EPCm), M&A, joint ventures, employment, real estate and compliance.
- Manage external legal service providers, budgets and project timelines.
- Support senior and managing counsel with complex legal analysis, research and communication.
- Prepare and lead litigation/dispute matters, coordinating with outside counsel.
- Maintain matter and cost‑management databases.
- Identify legal risks, develop mitigation strategies and oversee functional legal risk and compliance.
- Communicate and implement strategic legal and compliance initiatives across relevant regions.
Required profile
- Qualified lawyer with a law degree and admission to practice in Italy (or equivalent).
- Several years of experience in corporate, commercial and project law, including EPC/EPCm contracts, M&A, joint ventures, employment, real estate and compliance.
- Proven track record handling litigation/dispute matters and managing external counsel.
- Strong understanding of multi‑jurisdictional legal environments across Europe, Middle East, Africa, CIS and APAC.
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a high‑performing international team.
