Planning Engineer – Oil & Gas Projects

About the role

Hill International is looking for an experienced Planning Engineer to support the expansion of a major offshore oil and gas complex in Libya. The role will be managed from Milan and requires the right to work in Italy. You will develop, monitor and update project schedules across all phases, ensuring timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the Project Master Schedule in line with the Project Execution Plan.
• Create and maintain the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and activity coding.
• Identify critical path activities, key milestones and align the schedule with cost, procurement and engineering deliverables.
• Monitor actual progress versus baseline, update schedules weekly/monthly and propose recovery plans for deviations.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and offshore teams to collect progress data and integrate subcontractor schedules.
• Prepare weekly/monthly schedule reports, CPM analyses and look‑ahead schedules for short‑term planning.
• Perform schedule impact analysis for change orders, support claims with time impact analysis and maintain records for extension‑of‑time submissions.

Required profile

• BSc in Engineering from an accredited university.
• At least ten years of post‑degree experience, including a minimum of five years offshore experience.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and pay high attention to detail.
