Product and Application Specialist – Northern Italy

About the role

Staar Surgical is looking for a Product and Application Specialist for Northern Italy. The role provides on-site clinical and application support to distributors, agents and surgeons in the region while also helping to drive sales and business development. It works closely with the Line Manager to develop business opportunities, strengthen customer relationships, support product adoption and generate incremental sales, contributing to regional sales targets.

Key responsibilities

• Train and present products to optometrists, opticians and surgeons, and organise surgeon proctoring for certification
• Support surgeons, distributors and agents with lens calculation and verification
• Train and retrain distributors, agents and the sales force on approved products and accessories
• Speak at educational days at defined clinics and share marketing and clinical messages to improve ICL adoption
• Identify potential sites and customers, carry out site visits and write site visit reports for the Area Manager
• Monitor the progress of assigned sites in close contact with key opinion leaders and site personnel
• Work with the Area Manager Italy to coordinate business activities and support field marketing and promotional actions
• Follow up Practice Management programmes with clients in coordination with the distributor
• Manage the sales and accounts group in Northern Italy, developing existing business and achieving agreed sales targets

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Optics and Optometry or a similar degree in Optometry
• 2-3 years of experience in clinical practice (optometry) and at least 1-2 years in ophthalmology fields such as refractive or cataract
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills in Italian and English
• Adaptable, result-driven and able to communicate with people at all levels
