Senior Counsel, Antibribery & Anti‑corruption (ABAC) & Trade Compliance

About the role

ABB is seeking a senior legal professional to lead Antibribery & Anti‑corruption (ABAC) and Trade Compliance across its global business units. The role combines policy design, risk assessment, and hands‑on guidance to ensure compliance with export controls, sanctions, customs, and anti‑corruption laws.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Business Area (BA) Trade Managers to align national and international export‑control, sanctions, customs, tariff classification, anti‑dumping, and ABAC requirements.
• Support implementation of ABB corporate regulations, identify gaps, and draft BA‑level policy updates and procedures.
• Provide transaction‑specific compliance advice on Trade, ABAC, and Human Rights matters to legal, integrity, and business teams.
• Establish guidelines for export‑license applications and coordinate government submissions.
• Conduct risk assessments and deliver actionable insights on geopolitical influences, sanctions exposure, and ABAC/Human‑Rights risks.
• Maintain monitoring dashboards, lead task forces for sanctioned sectors or countries, and manage government‑relations activities.
• Oversee due‑diligence reviews, investigate alleged violations, and design remediation plans.
• Develop and deliver division‑specific compliance training programs, both in‑person and online.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in international trade compliance, export controls, sanctions, and anti‑bribery regulations.
• Proven ability to advise senior leadership on complex legal and regulatory issues.
• Strong analytical skills with a track record of conducting risk assessments and delivering clear recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management capabilities across global teams.
